The Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Management program presents the Breakfast Club!

The Trenton 365 Show as well as the Amans Brindled Regional Music Show #ABRMS is broadcast Thursday and Friday from 6-7p respectively, over the Mercer County Community College radio station 89.1 HD2 WWFM-JazzOn2 with streaming over the website www.jazzon2.org

Because of this access I have been introduced to several of the programs offered by the Higher Learning Institution including my latest discovery, the Culinary Arts Program.

Led by Frank Benowitz, HRIM Culinary Staff, The Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Management program presents the Breakfast Club!

The grand opening was Thursday, May 25.

Breakfast is served Monday through Thursday from May 25 through June 7, 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. in ES 111.  No tickets are required.  Prices start at $3.00.

Open to the public, this 8 day event showcased the Culinary talents of the diverse students.

Bike To Work Week 2017

This years National Bike To Work Week is May 15-19 and National Bike To Work Day is Friday May 19th.

This year I joined Jay Watson of the D&R Greenway Land Trust and several partnering organizations including Trenton Cycling Revolution and NJ Partnership for Healthy Kids to distribute cards in English and Spanish to encourage biking safety.

I spent most of my time at the Trenton Transit Station where I met several people who were riding.   Not everyone was wearing a helmet, some were riding on the sidewalks, most of the bikes were newer and in good condition, most didn't know about riding with the traffic and obeying traffic laws.

Prom Scholar

Earlier this week I had the pleasure of having Shahedah Williams and Takiyah Henriques on the Trenton 365 Show sharing about the Prom Scholar Organization

I was introduced to them through a referral as with most of my Guests.

Hello My name is Shahedah Williams and I am the President of Prom Scholar Inc

My organization Prom Scholar Inc. Is a organization dedicated to raising funds for first year of college needs and Prom needs this year we are providing our services to four girls with the help of three designers. The designers make custom gowns for girls who are selected through our application process. We provided hair make up accessories and we pay for prom tickets. We have a goal to raise $5000 so we can also provided each candidate with a $500 scholarship towards their education. This is the third year of Prom Scholar and this is the most girls we have provided this service for.

We are hosting a Prom Pop up boutique this year Sunday April 2nd 2017 9am -12pm at the Trenton Social who is sponsoring us along with 1911 Smoke House BBQ and caterer Leona Preston of Food X Style.  This event is open to the public everyone is invited  and we have vendors who will be selling merchandise.

Our happy our promotional event is this Friday March 31st at the Trenton social 10% of what is spent during 5pm-8pm will be donated to Prom Scholar this is courtesy of The Trenton Social TC Nelson.

 This year we are also hosting a fundraising fashion conversation event "Tea With a Sprinkle of Fashion". This event will be held in Trenton NJ in a new trendy .bakery Studio B. We are expecting about 75 guest at this event. Ticket are on sale now.This event will be Saturday May 6th 2017 4:30 pm -7:00pm. We will have food prepared by Studio B and our tea will be served by a Tea connoisseur Lady Tea Tv her work has been featured in publications like Essence Magazine. This event is Sponsored by Paris Hair and Beauty Supply and Studio B Bistro & Bar here in Trenton

The Good Samaritan

I am always considering my faith. I was born into the Christian faith and as a young adult decided to search for more.

During this period of searching, my faith was strengthened as I went through the peaks and valleys that shaped me.

As a Father and Husband I am positive I do not have all of the answers however I have personal experiences that I share with my teenager daughter.

Recently we were talking about the importance of actions in addition to words.

As we were leaving church this past Sunday which was Palm Sunday, I pointed to a motorcycle that was riding past. My wife and daughter know how much I miss riding motorcycles and were just as excited to see the “bike” I am contemplating purchasing.  Just then the bike made a sudden stop and down went the bike and rider.

I immediately went to the aid of the rider, helping him up and moving his new bike to the side of the road. My daughter saw me in action and came to assist. She sprinted to church to gathered some bottles of water as I calmed and comforted the rider. During our chat I learned that he is a new rider, his bike is only a few months old and his injury did not need medical attention do to him being proactive with full riding gear including a full face helmet, gloves, long pants and boots.

After a few minutes and multiple questions about his state of mind I gave him my contact info and made him commit to follow up about his situation. He did follow up via email and thanked us for our efforts.

A few days later while reading a daily devotional I see the following.

The parable about the good Samaritan always touched me. Why did the Priest and the Levite avoid helping this person who was in need? Why did the Samaritan not only assist but provide extra help even using his “social capital” to make sure this man was taken care of?

In the morning before reading this devotional I was led to ask God to show me something spiritual today.  Hey God I saw it!

Friends be encouraged and think about the spirit of the 3 people in this parable and consider which one your actions are feeding.

Bird in Hand PA

The day started with a leisurely ride through Eastern PA heading to our destination.

We stopped along the way and met some very friendly horses not in the least bit camera shy.

Rolling through Intercourse PA we observed the downtown area and then stopped for lunch at Hand In Hand Vol. FD.  They were having a fundraiser lunch that included all you can eat chicken pot-pie.  Where I grew up this recipe was called chicken and dumplings.  The meal was accompanied with fresh baked rolls, side veggies, fresh iced tea, lemonade and dessert.  The kind of meal that “sticks to your ribs.”

During lunch I captured images around the FD and chatted with locals “Danny” and the Fire Chief.  Religious rules prevent posing for images.  We chatted about our respective cultures.  I learned that some religious sects differ in the Amish community.  Some churches prohibit the riding of pedal powered bicycles but allow the use of scooters.  We also chatted about the challenges of finding volunteers to drive the fire trucks.

After the satisfying meal and conversation we were given a tour and saw the process of making our meal then off to Lancaster.

Departed Musicians on NPR

Today's tribute to Muscians who have departed in 2016 was awesome!

Starting with #Prince's "Lets Go Crazy" those words "Dearly beloved we are gathered here today...." brought back the memories of my life in 1983-84.

The segment covered a diverse genre of music created and performed by those who have moved on from this plain and made me realize why I love the Art of Music.

As I grow in my appreciation of Music as an Artform, I will continue to share the talent I see, hear and appreciate through my programs,
The Trenton 365 Show and ABRMS The Amans Brindled Regional Music Show as well as Lifestyle By Amans Brindled.
